LEGO® THE LORD OF THE RINGS: RIVENDELL™

As a lifelong Lord of the Rings fan and with a newfound love of Lego, I was always going to buy this set, and I'm so glad I did. It's gorgeous to look at with lots of really nice details for fans of the book and particularly the movies that it takes its inspiration from. No doubt the keyboard warrior purists will take exception to lembas bread in Rivendell though... A really enjoyable build, and I like to take my time with these, to really appreciate it. It took around 24 hours total build time, with lots of very clever bits where I really couldn't see how things were going to work and usually followed by a grin and "ahhh!". Highly recommended :-)

I have a lot of Lego sets, each one inspires me, but this build was another level. The SNOT techniques used, the angles, the rocky outcrops, splashing and churning water, the Elven architecture, and the Easter eggs (such as 'shortcuts to mushrooms' and the superb collection of minifigs just made this such an incredible build. Some have complained about the price, but I feel it's spot on - the designers must have taken an incredible amount of time trying to work out how to accomplish some of the feats of engineering. It looks absolutely stunning. Surely a must-have for any LOTR and Lego fan.

Honestly this was one of the best sets I have ever built! The attention to detail and the building techniques used are great. Building experience it's great. Really interesting you just can't stop. The roof top tiling work is just amazing. I only found in the last bag (part 6261359) to be somehow squishy somehow elastic and didn't fit well. It wasn't the traditional solid LEGO brick feeling that the stick together easily and can move around easily. It felt really weird and of really poor quality. I found the same issue with a part in the Hogwarts set(71043) Other than that amazing set 10/10.

Amazing building experience and truly jaw dropping finished model. One downer was I did have a missing dark tan 1 x 3 roof tile and also a missing statue torso. LEGO already has the roof tile on the way to me which is awesome customer service, but for now I substituted a reddish brown one and it looks pretty good still. Definitely recommend picking this one up to avoid hating yourself 10 years from now like I do for missing the first LOTR sets lol.

Into building LEGO Lord of the Rings sets! I love this set - it is a fantastic build experience with new techniques that surprised me along the way. I normally build sets over a few nights but took a week with this one to enjoy it. I’m not a huge minifigure collector, but the ones in this set are great. I especially like the alternative sitting poses for Gandalf and Elrond. The details and Easter eggs are another highlight, and the modularity of set (especially the Council ring and gazebo) was a pleasant surprise! All in all, one of my favorite two sets ever! The designers hit it out of the park! Bring back more LEGO Lord of the Rings (especially Barad-dur and Minas Tirith)!
